A little progress

A crappy tinternet connection meant only good things for my stash! Add to the the addition of Sky+ to our family led to quite a few things being made. Alfie did get a birthday present after all, albeit one that was finished in between making and icing cupcakes for his party and getting drunk and finished with the help of some videos Amy had text me filmed on her phone off a knitting website as I had no idea what 3 needle bind off entailed! But all was well that ended well and photos of the finished article will be up soon.

I'm still looking for a decent pattern to use with my poor pink and purple wool that has been reincarnated more times that a 2000 year old buddhist but after spending hours in the library, visiting every available pattern website twice and getting very excited over the new issue of Knitty only to be disappointed at the last, I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR!!

Never mind. I finally mastered intarsia this week and the results weren't too bad, I made a few wristbands (black with a pink skull, black with a blue stylised star and black with 'geek' spelt out in turquoise) but I'm not too sure about the twisting the yarn behind bit, I think it may have distorted the pattern a bit but I shan't let it annoy me too much, just chalk it up to learning the hard way!

DPNs

See, this is why I call myself a HACK...I've just started knitting slippers (sounds gay but they're cute, not granny-style) and am finally getting over my fear of DPNs.

The only problem is that I'm half way through one and can't be arsed to finish it!

Ah well, one semi-warm foot come winter :)

Evil evil jumper!!

It's now on it's third incarnation and I'm actually starting to feel sorry for the wool!

Will sort some pictures out soon though :)

Yoga mat bag...

...is finished! Whoop!

Have started making ladybirds now...made up a random pattern while watching 'Gavin & Stacey' the other night, found some (reasonably) cheap brooch backs and am trying to find them homes now :)

New month, new blog

I've decided to keep my ramblings separate from my craftiness and I'm hoping that this is going to inspire me to actually finish some of the UFOs I have on the go which to date are...

1 - Yoga mat bag...maximum of 5 rows left and the carry cord but I can't be arsed. (Crochet)
2 - Jumper...realised when my new Denise needles arrived that there is a big difference in size between UK 10s and US 10s! It would fit but I don't think it'll look right! Pity the poor wool, this is its third incantation and it's going to be frogged very soon! (Knit)
3 - A family of weird shape things based on Mochimochi Blog's grass pattern...they're supposed to be felted but unfortunately, felting doesn't like me much so I've settled with really teeny tiny needles so they end up small with tight stitches to stop the stuffing coming through. (Knit)
4 - I also need to start something for my nonGodson's birthday in July...I have the pattern but I can't really afford the wool yet...might have to raid the piggy bank for that one!

I'm not just sitting around doing nothing though, my mother and I are making crochet blankets for charity which are being sent out to orphanages in Africa. 5 of mine and 3 of hers have gone already and we're constantly needing spare odds and ends of wool which ur neighbours and friends are supplying us with quite nicely!

Ah well, time to switch off the computer and pick up some needles methinks!
